Befriending and Beyond - Introducing a Befriending Scheme like no other
The team at HACS have fantastic new project to share with you. Befriending and Beyond is a brand new project, part of the Age Better Sheffield Innovation fund which aims to help tackle social isolation and loneliness of people aged 50+. We will be providing this new service in 2 of the target areas that Age better has found there to be the highest rate of social isolation, our focus is on individuals in Woodhouse and Beauchief/Greenhill
So what is Befriending and Beyond?
Befriending and beyond is a fun new way for people who may be socially isolated to meet others. Our aim is to match individuals that share some common ground and enable them to form friendships to help reduce social isolation.
Speed matching session will be held on a monthly basis. During the session a small group will be rotated so that each person will have around 5 minutes to talk to everyone individually. After this there will be chance to have a chat as a group and for individuals to feedback to staff members if they feel they would be suitably matched with anyone. Once a mutual match is formed we then encourage them to meet up away from the group setting, this can be
supervised by the facilitator or on their own.
Come join us!
Speed matching sessions run from 13.15 – 14.30 and are completely free to attend.
They will be held at:
The Salvation Army Woodhouse Corps, S13 7JW – 3rd Friday of the month.
Greenhill Methodist Church, S8 7RL – 4th Friday of the month.
